The Blinging Bluebird is delighted to stock high quality crystal rhinestones, in addition to a few jelly options. All rhinestones are flatback and require an adhesive. Hint – Liquid Fusion® glue works best and can be purchased on our website. We do not stock hotfix rhinestones.
AB stands for Aurora Borealis and is named after its likeness to the splendor of the northern lights. These are standard coloured rhinestones with a rainbow-like coating. This gives off a special iridescent finish, reflecting primarily shades of gold, blue and pink.
Crystal – high-quality glass rhinestones with a brushed silver backing. Rhinestones with a shiny foil-like backing lack texture and are more likely to peel or fall off. Projects with crystal rhinestones are sturdier thanks to the unique bond they can achieve.

Jelly – resin rhinestones with an AB finish. They are named for their fun candy colours. These are a cost-effective alternative to crystal glass and a fun product to use in colourful projects.

When placing rhinestones there are a few different techniques that are generally used. Below are our placement guides. Take note that the honeycomb, scatter and cushion methods have better coverage and allow less gaps. Painting the background of your project the same color will also camouflage gaps. Circular patterns are generally only used when covering tumbler lids or other circular objects.
Bling Mixes are such a fun way for a beginner to get into blinging without worrying about keeping a perfect honeycomb pattern, or just a fun way to incorporate multiple colors into a design!
All Bling Mixes are proprietary blends exclusive to The Blinging Bluebird consisting of only high quality glass rhinestones. Stones included in mixes range from SS6-SS30 with the exception of a few select mixes containing SS3, specialty shapes or stones.
Each and every one of our Bling Mixes are custom made and exclusive to the shop. These mixes are crafted in house with much care in selecting colors and choosing ratios. Therefore to protect the brand and the exclusivity of our mixes we do not disclose the stone colors or ratios.
